Holiday House Tour- 2020

Updated: Dec 16, 2020

Man oh man, I cannot believe how this year has flown by. I don't know how many times this year I referred to Christmas time as if it were a lifetime away and now it's here. How did that happen?! I know this year is going to look a lot different for you and your family -- I know it is for ours. I am always very invested in my Christmas decorating, but this year something welled up in me to make our home extra cozy and festive! After all, the reason we celebrate isn't the condition of this ever-changing world, but the constant peace and assurance Christ's birth brings! My hope is that this 2020 Christmas tour brings all the joy and inspiration you need to deck your halls!

There's is a funny story behind this tree. At my previous job at a design studio, this tree was being thrown in the dumpster because the lights had gone bad. Needless to say, I rescued this giant from near peril in a landfill. My mom and I painstakingly for hours.... yes hours.. cut all the lights off of this 9' tree. I know what you're thinking, why save this tree when you could just buy a new pre-lit tree? Well, I have to admit I'm a bit of a tree snob. This tree is beautifully frosted, and it even has tiny little frosted pine cones on some of the branches. It has full branches and just overall perfect proportions, so yes, I had to use this specific tree! So after all that work, I put this tree in our house, which has a sunken living room so it is closer to 9' than 8'. I knew it was going to be a tight fit, but I didn't know just how tight! I can't put an actual topper on the tree because even after bending the top of the tree down -- I mean really smashing it down -- it still just about scrapes the ceiling........ Eeek! Not the best look, I'll admit. I decided to remedy this problem by making my own topper with different Christmas picks and I literally just arrange these at the top as if I was making an arrangement. As a result it looks a little different every year. I like to call it my custom tree topper.

I love draping a lit garland over the dresser our tv is on, it add some Christmas love to this side of the room.

I usually change up my throw pillows every season, for the holidays I like to be a little more shimmery. This year I used blush and some pretty velvet eggplant pillows!

If you are like me, you are always finding places to put Christmas décor. I used some of my glass ornaments in a bowl with moss on the coffee table. I have a LOT of random Christmas picks and greenery. They are all different, but still all go together, and I sprinkle these everywhere, even the counter. No surface is off limits! I may have gone a little over board on the Target bottle brush trees... I used them on my buffet as modern backdrop for our nativity! I can't wait to see what you create this Christmas!

Happy Decorating!
